2D Measurement
Within the quality inspection, the biggest application area of industrial image processing, the measuring technology is an essential element. The dimensional measuring with image processing has several advantages over tactile measurement technologies: the measuring process is non-contact, exremly fast and can be applied in time with production. Instead of drawing particular parts for feeding a sampling measuring machine the vision system works in-line and inspects every single component reliable and without reduction of the actual rate of production.
2D measurement plays a dominant role where a 100 % inspection is required for high number of pieces or fast production processes. Thereby complete measuring objects or details can be measured by several cameras from different perspectives.
The measuring accuracy is heavily dependent on the quality of the optical imaging, camera hardware and the evaluation software. OTTO uses nearly unexceptional telecentric measuring lenses, digital high-resolution cameras and an own image processing software which can cope with any two-dimensional measuring task.
Using respective high-quality hardware components in combination with the fast and flexible evaluation software OTTO achieves:
- Measurement accuracies up to the lower micron range
- Speed up to more than 14.000 pictures per min
